Branch Study Group Blog

July 13, 2011 at 12:17 pm | Posted in General | Leave a comment

You will know that the Branch has long offered to arrange study groups as a way of providing support for those members doing exams. It is predominantly intended to help those doing distance learning but, of course, it is open to anyone needing help. As its unimaginative name suggests, this blog has been dedicated to issues around study groups but as the study group demand has proved relatively low and intermittent, the use of the blog has been very limited.  Indeed, it is over a year since there has been a new post.

In light of this, and to ensure that news about study groups goes to all the branch blog subscribers (which may help generate demand) the Study Group Blog will cease and  information about study groups will be sent via the main branch blog. Therefore, to continue to receive posts about study groups, please could you subscribe to that instead (if you are not already subscribed)? I hope this will not be too inconvenient and, perhaps, more useful as you will also receive other posts and so be informed of other branch activities.

Meanwhile, in response to a specific request for help, we would like to arrange a study group focussing on the law of Tort. The request comes from a Level 6 student but it would be equally useful for anyone doing Level 3 and if this would be of interest to you then please get it touch.

Civil Litigation Revision Session – 18 May

May 12, 2010 at 7:35 pm | Posted in General | Leave a comment

In place of (or as the) next Study Group Session we will be doing a Civil Litigation Revision session focussing on the case study and other materials from the Revision Pack for the Level 6 exam which takes place in June. This will be free but is only open to paid up branch members.

This will be at about 7.30pm on Tuesday 18 May at the RWPS offices on Parkstone Road, Poole. There is parking at the front of the building and also at the rear (please stick to the right hand side looking from Parkstone Road). There is a branch committee meeting beforehand so we may not be able to start promptly but will aim to give you a good hour and a half or so to go through the case study and try to answer any other specific questions.

If you would like to come, please would you either say so via a comment or contact me directly. There is only room for a limited number so ‘first come, first served’ will apply taking account of those who have already said they want to come. It would also be very helpful for any specific questions or problem areas to be mentioned in advance so we can be prepared for them.

No 12 April Meeting

April 6, 2010 at 7:04 pm | Posted in General | Leave a comment

As no one has posted any requests for help (nor emailed me directly with any) this will not happen.

The dates for the next 2 sessions are currently slated for Tuesday 18 May and Wednesday 9 June when, as ever, we will be happy to try to deal with any issues.

Next Meeting 12 April 2010

March 15, 2010 at 7:57 pm | Posted in 1 | Leave a comment

The next Study Group meeting could have been this Wednesday 17 March but, as it is the first Committee Meeting after the AGM and we have several new members and a heavy agenda, it is likely to be a long meeting making a Study Group afterwards unworkable.

Therefore, the next Study Group will be on Monday 12 April. It would be very helpful if you could use the blog to post any requests for specific topics so we can try to line these up for you. Nearer the time, I will confirm the issues we feel able to help with and asking for confirmation of attendance (which I appreciate will often depend on what is being covered).

Sorry to let you down for this week but hope we can make it up to you in April.

Next Meeting – 11 January 2010

January 5, 2010 at 6:42 pm | Posted in General | 2 Comments

Happy New Year to all and, much more quickly than I expected and so with very little notice I’m afraid, I can confirm there will be a Study Group session on Monday evening. The intention is to focus specifically on general exam techniques but if there are any specific issues you would like help with then please post details here and we will do our best. If you would like to come along please let me know either directly or via a comment. I hope to see you on Monday.

The next Study Group session will be on Monday 14 December at the RWPS offices.

Please use the Leave a Comment facility to post details of any particular issues you would like discussed.

18 November 2009

December 5, 2009 at 6:17 pm | Posted in Feedback | 2 Comments

The inaugural Study Group session took place on 18 November and was attended by 6 or 7 people (sorry, I did not keep a record!). Please use the Leave a Comment facility to give any feedback on the session.

Was it useful? Was anything particularly helpful? What could be improved? What would be helpful in the future?

All comments, whether good or not so good will be appreciated and help us to help you.
